As we control our frustration, we might recall that it was on this date in 1271 that Kublai Khan, the grandson of Genghis Khan and ruler of the Eastern-most part of the Mongol Empire at the point that it fragmented into four separate Khanates, established the Yuan Dynasty… which, after Kublai defeated the Song in southern China several years later, became the first dynasty to rule a united China since the Tang, hundreds of years earlier.
