As we flex our fingers, we might recall that it was on this date exactly 100 years ago (1908) in Flint, Michigan, that the General Motors Corporation was founded as a holding company for Buick and Oldsmobile.  The next year, GM acquired Cadillac, Oakland (which became Pontiac) and Reliance (which was the core, with Rapid, also acquired in 09, of what became GMC Trucks).
