The folks at Particle Zoo (actually, “Zookeeper”and seamstress Julie Peasley and physicist Derek van Westrum) have created a set of plush toys representing the menagerie of sub-atomic particles.

…they are weighted (relatively) appropriately, and even include anti-mater particles! One can find them all here (along with a helpful link to CERN :-)

As we construct cosmological carnivals in our bedrooms, we might thank our stars that in this date in 1957, John Lennon and Paul McCartney met and began the friendship that grew into a collaboration.

What are the odds that the two greatest popular song writers of the twentieth century would grow up a few blocks apart in Liverpool? Whatever they are, they’re not as long as the odds that those two would also be the two greatest pop vocalists of the century.
