As we prepare the batter, we might send a wry birthday greeting to Joan Alexandra Molinsky; she was born on this date in 1933.  After brief stints as as a tour guide at Rockefeller Center, a writer/proofreader at an advertising agency, and as a fashion consultant at Bond Clothing Stores, she changed her name to Joan Rivers and entered show business…  where, of course, she enjoyed a long career as a comedian and actress before becoming the Queen of the Red Carpet.

I hate housework! You make the beds, you do the dishes — and six months later you have to start all over again.

I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw that my bath toys were a toaster and a radio.
